The project is building on the success of the Silicon Run series of films to collect data on student use of the material, work with existing nanotechnology programs at 2-year colleges, and plan for future production of a series of films on micro-electro-mechanical systems and nanotechnology. The intellectual merit of the project is in the rapidly-expanding field of nanotechnology that has applications in many scientific and technical fields. The broader impact is in the potential to reach many students in technical and engineering programs, and in the project's deliberate outreach to women and minorities under-represented in technological fields.
