The submitted nomination package is in support of a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) to recognize outstanding mentoring efforts or programs that enhance the participation of historically underrepresented groups in science, mathematics, and engineering.

Dr. Sheryl Tucker is a chemistry professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has been actively engaged in mentoring students and faculty in STEM, including Girl Scouts in fourth through sixth grades, undergraduate and graduate students (women, minorities, and persons with disabilities), and female faculty who are pre-tenure. Since 1998 (through March 2005), more than 1,900 junior Girl Scouts have participated in "Magic of Chemistry."
