This project will fund the acquisition of a high performance liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometer (HPLC-MS) for the organic geochemistry lab at Brown University. This facility will contribute significantly to scientific research as well as educational objectives. Establishment of an HPLC-MS system and its peripherals will strongly enhance ongoing and future research projects in organic geochemistry, paleoceanography, paleolimnolgy and paleoclimatology, and promote interdisciplinary collaborations. The new system will enhance the education and experience of postdocs, graduate and undergraduate students. At Brown, undergraduate students actively participate in research projects and gain hands-on experience with various analytical equipment.
