This grant provides support for an upgrade to the computation capabilities of the geophysics research group at Arizona State University. Funds will be used to purchase a PC compute cluster running LINUX that will be employed for the development and running of state-of-the-art codes for modeling thermochemical mantle dynamics and for seismological investigations of crustal and mantle structure beneath the North American continent. The facility will support graduate student education and developed codes will be made freely available.
