This twelve-month award will support an international workshop based upon an NSF Science and Engineering Informatics award that supports "The CrystalGrid Framework," which is expected to develop the information technology needed for a collaboratory framework that potentially would be useful for the entire domain of x-ray crystallography worldwide.

The workshop will help develop a consensus about data formats and access that will allow these data to be widely used and shared. For this to happen, a consensus must be developed across fields that incorporate crystallography, and across international boundaries. The workshop will produce a global research agenda for the necessary development work and for international collaborations to accomplish that agenda.
