This award will support a cooperative workshop, Water Allocation and Transfer Systems in the United States and Australia, June 28 - July 2, 1990, organized by Dr. Charles Howe of the University of Colorado at Boulder and Dr. John Pigram of the Center for Water Policy Research, University of New England, New South Wales, Australia. The main objectives of the three-day workshop are to exchange information on (1) the effectiveness U.S. water transfer procedures and their potential application in Australia and (2) Australian combined quantity-quality water management systems for possible use in the United States. The workshop will take place at the Center for Water Policy Research in July 1990, and will involve U.S. participants from universities that are centers of research on these topics, the University of Colorado, Colorado State University, Harvard University, and the University of Arizona. A formal proceedings will be prepared and widely disseminated. In addition, an abridged version of the proceedings will be submitted to Water Resources Research for publication.
