*** 9603190 Bustin This award supports the travel of U.S. participants to a colloquium entitled Africa, France and the United States, to take place at the Talence campus of the University of Bordeaux I in Bordeaux, France, May 22-24, 1997. The co-organizers are Edouard Bustin of Boston University and Daniel Bach, Director of the Centre d'Etude d'Afrique Noire, University of Bordeaux I. The objectives of the workshop are to develop a cross-cultural, interdisciplinary approach to research and to facilitate participation in collaborative projects. Topics for discussion include: Africa in the Foreign Policies of France and the United States; Formulation of Public Policies; Strategic Issues and Crisis Management; Economic Interests and Rivalries; France and the U.S. Viewed from Africa; and Challenges and Opportunities of Multilaterism. ***
