This award facilitates a one-day symposium, 'From Reaction Dynamics to Peptide Sequencing,' that will be held at the Fall 2007 National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Boston, MA, August 19-23, 2007. This multidisciplinary symposium will focus on innovative applications of mass spectrometry to 'grand challenge' problems in chemistry, biology, in situ analysis, and nanomaterials. Importantly, it will also serve as a framework for discussion of the next generation of mid-scale analytical instrumentation. The symposium will bring together some of the world's best mass spectrometrists whose interactive discussions are expected to catalyze innovative thinking in the field. In addition, this award assists six female and/or minority graduate students to attend the symposium and interact with the presenting scientists.
