The PI will organize a community workshop in Salt Lake City, Utah to discuss and outline anticipated infrastructure needs for marine heat flow research and the required technical capabilities and resources. A workshop report will be prepared for NSF which will attempt to provide justification, motivation, and potential plans for redeveloping a marine heat flow capability in the U.S. which currently is in a state of abeyance. A broad representative segment of community will be invited to participate.
Broader Impacts: Currently the US capability to collect marine heat flow data do not exist within the academic community as this type of research has been in a state of suspension. The workshop will go a long way in reviving and planning for future marine heat flow studies in the country.
