In 1993 Scripps Institution of Oceanography will operate research vessels MELVILLE, NEW HORIZON, and ROBERT GORDON SPROUL in support of NSF-funded scientific research at sea. MELVILLE will carry out NSF marine geological and geophysical cruises in the south east Pacific, using SEA BEAM 2000 and GLORIA. Mid-year the vessel will work off Juan de Fuca Ridge. MELVILLE will end the year in Easter Island. R/V NEW HORIZON will support biological and physical oceanography off the coast of California, with one cruise off Mexico. R/V ROBERT GORDON SPROUL will do short cruises off the coast of California.
