This proposal requests support for a program of research in astrophysics and cosmology based upon the PI's original ideas of K-fields, which are basically scalar mesons with various parameters in the Lagrangian. The goals of the research are; the study of statistical anisotropies in cosmology; the development of reasonable models to generate such anisotropies: and alternatives to inflation in the generation of scale invariant density perturbations in the early universe.
