This project will examine three problems. The first is that of inelastic collisions of highly excited Rydberg atoms with ground state atoms resulting in electron transfer to the neutral to form a negative ion. The second is vibrational excitation and dissociative attachment of slow electrons to molecules. The third will be to generalize the theory of dissociative attachment to molecules physisorbed on surfaces and embedded in crystal media.
