The proposed dissertation research is on the ecology of non-timber forest products and their social and cultural significance to the people of rural Kamchatka, Russia. Using both qualitative and quantitative ethnographic methodologies the research will explore the use and integration of botanical and ecological knowledge by local people in post Soviet Russia.
