This award provides funding for students in the Department of Alaska Native and Rural Development at the University of Alaska to attend a workshop on Traditional Knowledge, Environmental Change and Development in the Arctic. The workshop, co-hosted by Ilisagvik College, the Barrow Arctic Research Consortium, and the National Park Service, provides an opportunity for students to interact with scientists, policy makers, and rural residents working on Arctic relevant issues such as: Western Science and Traditional Knowledge, Climate Change, Subsistence and Co-management, and Oil, Mineral and Gas Development and its Implications for Local Social and Cultural Development.
