The objective of this project is to determine the comparative efficacies of tin protoporphyrin (SnPP) and tin mesoporphyrin (SnMP) in decreasing the level of hyperbilirubinemia in preterm infants weighing 1500-2250 grms. at birth, as compared with untreated infants of the same birth weight groups. The study is to be carried out at Mitera Maternity Hospital in Athens, Greece, and infants meeting a set of eligibility criteria will be entered in the study after obtaining parental consent.
