Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services State Public Health Laboratory Project Abstract for FOA PAR-20-105 Laboratory Flexible Funding Model Discipline A (Microbiology): Track 4 Whole Genome Sequencing Purpose: The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) State Public Health Laboratory (MSPHL) seeks FDA cooperative agreement funding opportunity to enhance the Genome Trakr network by capturing the current and evolving genomic diversity of non-clinical pathogens across FDA relevant areas. The goals and outcomes of this cooperative agreement include the following: 1. The MSPHL will sequence a variety of Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, Shiga-toxin producing E. coli and other foodborne related organisms. 2. The MSPHL will upload the data generated to the National Center for Biotechnology Information which can be accessed by researchers and public health officials for real- time comparison and analysis. 3. The real time comparison and analysis will aid and reduce the time needed to solve foodborne illness outbreak investigations and reduce foodborne illnesses and deaths. Page 1 of 1
