Abstract

Clonidine has been recently approved for intraspinal injection for cancer pain. Some controversy remains over whether clonidine might be equally efficacious while producing no more side effects after systematic than intraspinal administration. This study is to compare the analgesic effects of intrathecal to intravenous administration of clonidine. It is also to determine whether intraspinal clonidine is more effective for hyperalgesic and allodynic pain than for acute pain and also to compare the potiences of intrathecal to intravenous clonidine.
