The Applied Research Program's (ARP) mission is to understand how and why cancer care and control activities in the United States influence patterns of care for cancer preventive, screening and treatment services and trends in cancer incidence, morbidity, mortality and survival. The breadth and scope of the ARP portfolio is diverse including many large grants and contracts. Program staff members in ARP are often tasked with convening meetings in order to further important scientific goals. Examples of these meetings include annual consortia or cooperative grant meetings, expert meetings to explore the state of the science, and large invitational gatherings to further research on a specific topic. ARP produces meeting reports, monographs, and evidence reviews resulting from meetings and conferences of various constituent groups. The success of these meetings is highly dependent on the overall organization and smooth function of the meeting itself. ARP's scientific constituency is diverse and located across the nation and internationally, and therefore the logistics of expert meetings is complex. This contract provided coverage for the support of these meetings during the period of February 1st through October 30th, 2008.
