This Phase II SBIR project will take advantage of the medium of internet to create an online environment for senior researchers, junior faculty and fellow to work individually or collaboratively, within an institution or across institutions, in their pursuit of research development and training programs. The end product will be a sustainable infrastructure weaving together three components: 1) an extranet for non real time collaboration for research and training development, 2) a Web conferencing technology for real time interactions, and 3) a Web platform for the dissemination of research and knowledge. During Phase II, the experts will develop presentations using the Web conferencing interface on a variety of topics which will be converted into enduring materials and made available for future reference. A Speakers Bureau, and on demand Consultation Series and Ask the Expert Forum will provide live online interaction. An Individual Career Management System will provide the tools for research and career development for all those aspiring to launch or enhance their careers. The infrastructure has been successfully used by a multisite T32 program, which will continue to use it. It will be equally applicable to anyone working on K, R, or F award. Existing training programs such as the Advanced Research Institute and the Summer Research Institute plan to utilize this proven system. This multi-component research, training, and career development program will have wide applicability for many other areas of the DSIR mental health initiatives as well as other sectors of healthcare research and education
