This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The University of Idaho Structural Biology Core Facility is currently available for users statewide via remote access using a secure, encrypted interface developed by the IBEST system administrator, Ken Blair. This facility is comprised of a 600 MHz digital NMR spectrometer capable of characterizing the solution state structure and dynamics of proteins in the range of 40 KDa. In the last year, Dr. Daughdrill has served as director of the facility and remains the primary user. Other users included, Drs. Doug Cole and Andrzej Paszcynski from the Department of Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Idaho, and Dr. Steve Alam of Washington State University. Individuals at other universities have expressed interest in using the facility, including Dr. Julia Oxford and Dr. Susan Shadle of Boise State University. Future plans for the facility involve expansion to include equipment for protein crystallography, pending renewal of the Host-Pathogen Interaction COBRE (PI: Dr. Gregory Bohach).
