Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.We are continuing to work with Western Nebraska Community College, and their students and faculty are in the INBRE Project. We supported two BRIN Scholars from WNCC during 2004-05 and provided them with the same academic year assistantships as our Scholars from the UGNET campuses. We also offered opportunities for faculty development for their science faculty. At this point, WNCC has identified two additional students who are interested in pursuing research. We also supported the travel of one faculty member and two students to the Annual Meeting of the Nebraska Academy of Sciences. All concerned felt this was a beneficial method to provide information to these students about research that is taking place on the four year campuses in Nebraska.
