The mission of the AT-NCIGT is to make groundbreaking technological advances in image-guided therapy (IGT). Outreach is a cornerstone of our center. We perform outreach through training and dissemination mechanisms so that the results of our research benefit the largest number of patients. The goal of our training program is to equip physicians and researchers with the necessary knowledge and tools to communicate our science, by providing hands-on training and on-line support. Our dissemination program complements the specialized hands-on direct interactions provided by the training program, and informs the broader scientific community about the technical capabilities of the Center through publicly available software, workshops, and publications. Together, the training and dissemination programs promote and enable the broadest possible use of our technologies by clinicians and scientists. We propose a variety of educational and communication means to achieve our goals for training and dissemination. These are: 1) Visiting and Resident Scholars Training Program to provide hands-on training and educational opportunities to qualified candidates at different career stages. 2) Tutorials in conjunction with premier society meetings; 3) Scientific Publications 4) National Image-Guided Therapy Workshop Series 5) Hands-on Project Events 6) Downloadable Software Programs for IGT and 7) a comprehensive web presence.
