This neuromuscular disease clinical center grant represents and interdisciplinary approach to the study of the pathophysiology and pathogenesis of human nerve and muscle disease. The center will take advantage both of the unique clinical skills and material available through the Department of Neurology with its neuromuscular clinics and of the recognized scientific expertise of various researchers within the medical school. Five multidisciplinary projects will focus collaborative efforts using biochemical, immunological, ultrastructural, and biophysical research techniques directly on the problems of human neuromuscular disease.
