Public Health Relevance

High patient turnover (patient admissions, discharges, and transfers) increases nursing workload and compromises the nurse?s ability to provide safe and high quality care. The proposed research is relevant to public health because as key healthcare professionals, improving nursing work conditions and practice environments is important to enable provision of safe and high quality patient care. The proposed research is also relevant to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's mission that pertains to making health care safer and of higher quality, especially by reducing preventable readmissions, preventable healthcare- associated conditions, and harmful conditions.
