The long term objective of the Sunrise project is to provide a multi-image film recorder (camera) for use with diagnostic ultrasound machines in small radiology departments, using innovative technology to increase efficiency of ultrasound examinations, provide new operational features, produce films of superior image quality, and provide the capability of making economical and high quality films of color or black-&-white images from the same camera. In a stand-alone camera intended for dedicated use with a single ultrasound machine, the Sunrise camera will provide features otherwise furnished only by centralized film recorder systems which cannot be justified in small radiology departments with low patient load. The narrower objective of this phase of the Sunrise project is to explore the areas which have the highest technical risk, and which will determine whether the longer term project is a feasible one.
