North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services July 2010 Proposal for FDA Feed Safety and BSE/Ruminant Feed Ban Support Project RFA-FD-10-002 PROJECT NARRATIVE Feed Safety and compliance with the BSE/Ruminant Feed Ban are dynamic issues of major concern for the general public. Increased importation of foreign feed ingredients coupled with challenging economic pressure can potentially lead to serious human and animal health issues. Increased surveillance of the Feed Industry is therefore vital to protecting the health and safety of both humans and animals from these potential problems.
