Reproducibility of the light scattering instrument has been good, but the generation of larger amounts of data has created problems of interpretation. It is not obvious which is the best mathematical algorithm to use to interpret the data, but a number of different approaches are being used. Significant changes can be detected in as short a time as 4 hours from making the original inoculum with some antimicrobic-organism combinations.
