The PI will integrate shipboard geophysical data with recently acquired seismic data from the industry to constrain rift structure across the Northern Red Sea. Based on a recent compilation of bathymetry, gravity, and magnetics data the PI suggested that the Northern Red Sea is transitioning from continent rifting to full seafloor spreading. The goal of the proposed study is to determine whether the observed crustal architecture is most consistent with this model or with several alternative models proposed for the rift's evolution.

Continued strengthening of international collaborations represents a broader impact of this work.
