This project will produce a contextual history of ballistics, a topic situated at the intersection of rational mechanics, experimental physics, and engineering practice that will shed new light on the rise of Western military hegemony during the Age of Enlightenment. The work will contribute to the history of science, history of technology, and to global military history, explaining what made the Scientific and Military Revolutions of early modern Europe so revolutionary from a non-Western perspective.
