This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The Frederick Greenwood Molecular Biology Core Facility (MBCF), directed by Dr. Gabor Mocz, supports the biomedical and molecular biology research and educational programs of the University of Hawaii. The MBCF is housed in the Pacific Biosciences Research Center (PBRC) which provides institutional funds to supplement the income derived from user fees. The RCMI program supports the development of new technologies in genomics, protein analysis, and bioinformatics. The analytical and synthetic services of the Facility include DNA sequencing, DNA fragment analysis/genotyping, DNA synthesis, gene-expression/DNA micro-array analysis, quantitative real-time PCR, SNP analysis/genotyping, WAVE nucleic acid fragment analysis, amino-terminal protein sequencing, QC Lab-Chip bio-analysis, genetic and statistical analysis and data mining, and macromolecular modeling. Education and training activities are provided to increase the outreach of the facility to potential users and to ensure that researchers are kept abreast of new developments in rapidly changing technologies.
