In the last budget period, EGP updates have occurred periodically during the year. External activity section for gene-by-gene EGP content updates through July 06 include 72 new target updates. EGP updates during the September-October 2005 time interval required more complex tasks related to a major update of the dbSNP/HapMap content that began with the Sept-Oct. 2005 release of these databases, resulting in a major external release of dbSNP build 125 results during January 2006. Use of population-specific identifiers in the PDR95 sample set were extended into the haplotype calculation and display features. dbSNP/HapMap updates were added to the external site during Jan. 2006 to capture and incorporate the major releases of genome-wide SNP data (including validated genotypes) from the HapMap efforts. These included two significant data releases of HapMap genotypes during early Sept. and late Oct. 2005. Validation and incorporation of the new NCBI dbSNP dataset (Build 126, ftp release on May 22, 2006) and HapMap Public Release #21 (July 20, 2006) is currently underway. Web server and database server disk space upgrades are underway, including integration of improved hard drive arrays and memory upgrades to reduce compute time required to process the dbSNP and HapMap release.
