This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Keywords: transcription factor, 55rRNA, DNA-protein interaction. Abstract: We are studying the structure and function of Eukaryote transcription factors III A , IIIB, and IIIC in phylogenetically diverse systems. We use a combination of genetic and biochemical approaches to gain insight into their interactions with DNA, RNA, each other, and with other protein components of the transcriptional apparatus.
