We plan to improve the quality and efficiency of Primary Care by bringing together experts in Industrial and Systems Engineering and Primary Care. We will expand the capability of this transdisciplinary research to provide evidence to guide the development of policy and technology. We plan to build on the success of the AHRQ-funded 2013 conference and, hold a series of three additional conferences to continue to build capacity and disseminate results.
The 2014-2016 Improving Primary Care Through Industrial and Systems Engineering (I-PrACTISE) conference series will bring together experts in Primary Care and Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE). At the 2014 conference, we will use the themes from the 2013 conference as the basis for a series of workshops to further define the most researchable areas. We will increase capacity by increasing the level of collaboration between established investigators and we will involve more junior researchers including graduate students and residents in the Primary Care specialties. We will, in each year, build upon the work of the previous years. Because the focus is on Primary Care, all US citizens, especially priority populations, may benefit.
