This project contributes to a highly successful 15th U.S. National Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics during 25-30 June 2006 at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Support provided goes to cover essential operating expenses and travel/lodging costs for graduate students and post-docs. The U.S. National Congress of TAM is the forum where the finest mechanics researchers in America present their best work. The Congress involves a thousand papers on biomechanics, continuum mechanics, devices & sensors, fluid mechanics, inverse & probabilistic methods, materials, and solid/structural mechanics. Among the broad impacts of the Congress is the further development of technologies that require advances in fluid and solid mechanics, such as biomedical devices, nano-scale engineering, and energy conservation & production. The visibility of the Congress, coupled with the financial support for young researchers, yields another impact of the Congress: to help build the mechanics workforce of the future.
