Abstract

Forearm perfusion techniques allows a direct, physiologically relevant examination of insulin action on muscle and subcutaneous tissues. Future investigations to determine if the insensitivity observed has affected other actions of insulin on muscle are underway; these will also clarify whether subcutaneous tissues show consistently normal insulin sensitivity.
